Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy MBCT
Similar to the MBSR program, MBCT is an eight-week program that consists of meditation, formal and informal mindfulness practices. However, MBCT is a psychotherapeutic technique which utilises cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) methods, in additional to the meditative techniques taught in MBSR.
MBCT is developed specifically to help people who had previously suffered from major depressive disorder. It is designed to reduce the risk of future episodes of depression. Since its development, scientific research have proven that MBCT is also helpful to those who suffer addictions and substance abuses. This program also is suitable for people who have a tendency to worry or are prone to feelings of anxiety and sadness.
This program takes place over the course of eight weeks, with one lesson each week and each lesson lasts around 2.5 hours, plus a silent day.
