What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is the practice of focusing one's awareness in the present moment. Sounds easy enough, right?
In reality, a lot of us go through life without giving it much thought or attention. We are so focused on the next deadline, the next meeting, the next holiday, the next (fill in the blank), that we haven't pay attention to what is happening right now. We are so preoccupied with our past and future, we neglect what is important in the present moment. We found ourselves easily distracted, stressed, and not enjoying things as much as we could.
Mindfulness training helps us to focus on the here and now. It is a scientifically proven method to deal with stress, worry, fatigue, and pain. Meditative techniques are used in the training to help you focus better, worry less, and relax more. It helps one to cultivate an attitude toward experience that is more open, less-judgemental, and more compassionate.
