Why would I want to talk to a psychologist?
People usually decide to talk to a psychologist when they are dealing with the same issues over and over again, or the issues they are trying to cope with becomes too difficult for them to handle on their own and they recognise they need help. A psychologist can provide impartial insights and clarity into your experience.
Isn't therapy only for crazy or weak people?
There is a huge stigma and misunderstanding of what therapy is and whom is it for. Therapy is for a wide range of people who are dealing with difficulties in their lives and would like to have professional insights into their issues.
Seeking help is not a sign of weakness. It signifies courage and a willingness for self-reflection and growth. It is important that we take care of our emotional pain as seriously as we do with physical pain.
What is an intake and when will that take place?
Once we have received your enquiry, we will contact you and schedule an intake. This will take place before the start of therapy sessions. An intake is an opportunity for us to get to know you a bit more and a chance for you to elaborate on the issues you would like to address. Equally important, it is also a chance for us to get a sense of each other and see if we fit well to work together.
Will the things I discuss during therapy be kept private?
Yes. Everything that you discuss during therapy is confidential. Exceptions to confidentiality will only be made if there is a threat to the safety of a client or others. Appropriate authorities will be contacted to ensure the safety of all parties involved.
Do you accept insurance?
No, we are not affiliated with any insurance company at the moment. We are working towards that in the near future.
Do I need a referral letter from my GP/family doctor (huisarts)?
No, Since we do not work with any insurance companies right now, it is not necessary to obtain a referral letter from your GP.
What is your payment and cancellation policy?

Do you prescribe medication?
No, only a doctor or psychiatrist can do that. There are cases where clients will find medication helpful, but many of them also progress well in therapy without medication. If you would like to be evaluated for medication, please schedule an appointment with your GP (huisarts).
Is mindfulness only for people who practice Buddhism?
Mindfulness-based programs are customised to be secular and welcome everyone regardless of your spiritual and religious beliefs.
I prefer to do the mindfulness course in an one-on-one setting, is that possible?
Both MBSR and MBCT are available in individual, 2 persons, and group settings.
The individual option is for those who would like to have more flexibility in time scheduling for the lessons and/or prefer more privacy.
The 2 persons option is suitable for those who would like to join with a friend or a partner and also prefer to have flexible hours for the lessons.
For the group course, it will be given on a fixed time and date each week. For example, Thursday night from 19.30-22.00. There will be maximum of 8 participants to ensure adequate amount of care and attention for each participant.
I don't know which of the two mindfulness courses is better suited for me.
An intake interview will be arranged before the start of the program to determine which program best suit your needs.
What's the difference between practising mindfulness with a meditation app and taking the course?
Meditation app is a great introductory portal to practice mediation and most apps provide a wide sources of guided meditations for free or at a low price. It is a valuable resource to help people practice mindfulness on a regular basis. In comparison, a mindfulness course provides guidance, support, and deeper insights/explanation about mindfulness and how it can help to reduce stress and to improve overall well-being. We also provide support and care that cater to individual needs and concerns that one may have.
Where will the class take place?
Our studio is located in the beautiful beach town of Scheveningen. Part of our mindfulness lessons will take place outdoors by the beach when weather permits.
Do I need to have previous mediation experience to join this course?
Absolutely not! Everyone is welcome regardless of your experience.
